SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2018
Welcome!
In this edition, I would like to look back on my very first tour with the collective Ptäh, but also present you a new concert with Frapadingos (in which I played the alto sax), as well as two “back-to-school” projects! Here we go!
Very first tour with Ptäh.
This September, I travelled to the South of France for my very first artist residency with the collective PTÄH.
From September 4th to the 16th, we shared meals, laughters, extensive rehearsal of the music of French progressive rock band Magma, and had the opportunity to perform 4 explosive concerts.
Here are some pictures of these amazing 2 weeks:
What is PTÄH?
A musical collective from Aquitaine, France, that performs covers of the French band Magma.
PTÄH performs the music of Magma, but PTÄH is not actually a band. It is a fragile entity of musicians who gather to play a music they love whenever they get the chance.
Born is 2006 as a quintet, the collective has grown over time to settle around 10 musicians as of today. Ptäh gathers professional musicians who love Magma music. They consider it a music that will leave its mark, and therefore deserves to be performed, by Magma, Ptäh, and other bands, in a variety of settings.
The musicians of Ptäh come from different musical horizons – progressive rock, jazz, metal, traditional music, funk, electroacoustic – and have evolved in many projects such as Artus, Sotos, Zaar, Old School Funky Family, Bostgehio, Alcôme, Pastors of Muppets, and even Magma, to name a few.
They gather once or twice a year, around this common passion, with nothing else at stake that the objective to share their passion with an audience as large and heteroclite as possible, in the deepest of French forest of the Landes, punk squats in Switzerland, small theaters or international festivals.

The concerts :
After a 3 days-residency in the small town of Gaas, we had the opportunity to perform during Catach festival on September 7th.
Then, Le Circus, a concert hall in the city of Capbreton, welcomed us for another artist residency of 3 days. We performed there 2 nights in a row, at the end of the residency, with wonderful artists: The duet Kolinga on Thusday 13th, and the band La fin de la société telle que nous la connaissons on Friday 14th.
And to end well 2 beautiful weeks of music together, we had the great honor to perform last at Rock In Opposition festival, in Carmaux, on September 16th.
Wonderful memories. You can see some beautiful footage of the last show, as well as an interview of the band, in the “LIVE” playlist of my youtube channel.
PTÄH upcoming concerts will be announced as soon as possible, and you’ll be able to find all the necessary information on the calendar page of my website.
